• STEPHEN A. CALLEN HONORARY SCHOLARSHIP- This scholarship is an award          given to six high school seniors annually.  Mr. Callen founded WVJC in 1958 with a         desire to provide academic training to students in the state of West Virginia.  His      dedication and vision has not only prepared thousands of graduates for a career, but           has also provided a strong base of technically skilled worker for employers in West     Virginia.  In addition to Mr. Callen's dedication to education, he is a highly respected    member  of his community, serving on numerous committees to improve education             and community.

• WEST VIRGINIA COLLEGE EXAMINATION SCHOLARSHIP- The Examination scholarship is awarded to four high    school seniors annually.  Every applicant will sit for an examination designed to measure aptitude for those skills required for a business or allied health career.  The four students    who score the highest will receive the award.

GED Scholarship

Each year West Virginia Junior College – Bridgeport may offer up to four partial tuition scholarships in the amount of $2000 for each scholarship.  The total value of the scholarship is a maximum of $8000 in any year.  Individuals who have successfully completed their GED test are eligible to apply for the scholarships.  Scholarships will be awarded based on successful completion of the same test given to the high school seniors and after a personal interview with an admissions representative

Career Enhancement Scholarships

Each term West Virginia Junior College may offer twenty-five (25) $1000 tuition scholarships to employees of participating businesses to enhance the employee’s job skills and value to the employer.  The employee must apply for admission, meet all applicable admission requirements, be accepted by WVJC and actually begin classes at the next class start date after the scholarship award date.  The scholarship may be applied to tuition incurred in any of the College’s Associate Degree programs.  If the employee drops out of school, any part of the scholarship that has not been credited to the employee’s tuition is forfeited.  It may not be used as a tuition credit for individual courses, certificate programs, diploma programs, or other courses/programs.  If the employee discontinues employment or is terminated by the participating business, while the employee is enrolled at the College, the employee will forfeit any part of the scholarship that has not been credited to the employee’s tuition at that point of time.

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
