Medical Assisting/Information Technology
The objective of this program is to prepare the graduate
for an entry-level position in various health care settings. Emphasis is placed
on clinical skills, various computer applications, and the skills necessary to
assist physicians in examining and treating patients in doctors' offices,
hospitals, clinics and other health care settings. With the training in computer
applications and office skills, the graduate is also prepared to obtain
employment outside the health field.
The Medical Assisting curriculum at West Virginia Junior College is approved by
the American Registry of Medical Assistants. Accordingly, upon successful
completion of the program, graduates may register with the ARMA.
This program seeks to develop a well-rounded individual through its general
education component with both the professional and personal qualities that will
assist the graduate to succeed in the business world.
